Participatory Cultures course open to all students! Writing Intensive!Contributed by Alicia Swords on 08/25/17 The Honors Program would like to invite ALL students at Ithaca College in any major in any school to enroll in a very special and VERY SMALL seminar on Participatory Cultures. HONORS 20000-01 will be held on TUESDAYS, 4-7 in PARK 277. This is a designated Writing Intensive course as well. The seminar explores all aspects of participatory culture from social media, fans, interactive documentary, new media, sound, science, politics, film, design, and beyond. The seminar engages in close readings of books investigating ways to think about and think through participation. This seminar does not feature lectures--it is designed for engagement with ideas and with arts, science, and political practices that are participatory in nature and design. It is international and transnational in scope. Given the state of the world where dialogue seems challenged in all sectors, we are opening this seminar to any interested student. Just enroll if you are in the Honors Program. If you are not in the Honors program, simple enroll and we will authorize the override. The seminar also serves as a gateway course for blogging internships in the Spring with the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) now celebrating its 20th year.
