Moving Forward: a conversation with Dr. Luvelle Brown and Mayor Svante MyrickContributed by Sean Eversley Bradwell on 08/30/17 As we begin a new semester with new opportunities, many of us are still struggling to fully understand the events of a tumultuous summer. To quote President Shirley M. Collado’s recent statement to the Ithaca College community: “The series of events that unfolded on the University of Virginia campus and in the city of Charlottesville, Virginia have stirred in many of us a mix of shock, grief, anger, and resolve.” These events have also furthered our need to search for new ways to move forward – collectively. Please join us for a unique opportunity to engage with two of Ithaca’s public leaders: Dr. Luvelle Brown and Mayor Svante Myrick. Dr. Brown and Mayor Myrick will share some thoughts and reflections on what happened this summer; what happens in Ithaca; and what we can all make happen moving forward. There will be an expectation for audience participation and we hope this event will be, as President Collado indicated, an event “to explore and affirm how we will work together—to learn, lead, support, and make progress on complex issues both in our society and on our campus.” Tuesday, September 5th 4:30pm - 5:30pm Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall Ithaca College
