Hello! I am Daniel Pascoe Aguilar, PhD, MDiv and I have the privilege of having recently joined Ithaca College as your new Executive Director of Career Services.

After having led career development efforts/centers at Indiana University, the University of North Texas, Seattle University and the University of Oregon throughout the last 15 years, I am thrilled to have purposefully joined an institution keenly focused on your integrated, holistic and experiential education, on your readiness for your contribution to the workforce and the world, and on the diversity, equity and inclusion of our collective efforts as an institution and a community. This, in addition to the exciting arrival of President Shirley Collado, makes Ithaca College not only a wonderful institution in which to study and work, it also makes it the place through which we want and need to partner with you and every member of the IC and larger community for one of our most important endeavors as a society: the preparation and positioning of our new generation of leaders (in other words: YOU!).

I am delighted to share that I have yet to meet an IC student or alumnx who does not embrace and breathe the interdisciplinary integration of their IC education, their focus on a holistic purpose, the value of their experiential learning, and their role in our social justice needs. NACE, AACU and CERI data are clear in indicating that more than three quarters of employers across the nation and across industries are specifically looking for transferable skills and meaningful experience in college graduates, in particular candidates with a purpose, with maturing experience and with the ability to communicate effectively, think critically, problem solve strategically and work well with others. I have joined this amazing organization because I strongly believe that Ithaca College and its students have something very unique and special to offer to organizations and to our collective impact on our future reality. We want you to take advantage of this opportunity and we want to work with you so that from the beginning we help you "envision, make and tell your story" and reach your fullest potential.

Have you thought of what brings meaning to your life and how you would like to contribute to the world around you?

·       Did you know that according to DOL and LinkedIn you are expected to change careers a number of times during your career journey? How will you make your education at IC tranferable?

·         Were you aware that employers are not only looking for soft skills and powerful experiences in college graduates, but that according to NACE and Forbes 80% of jobs are never posted because they are filled through networking and experiential learning? How are you connecting to your networks of interest?

·         Did you know that NACE found that last year 73% of first-time internships and 90% of repeat internships ended up in a job offer? What internship opportunities are you considering?

We can help with any of this!

·         Visit our Office, website and Handshake to learn more about all the career development opportunities we are making available to you

·         Participate in our workshops, networking events, career fairs and other programs

·         Meet with one of our Counselors, Advisors or Peer Career Advisors

·         Learn more about and get ready for our incredibly exciting upcoming Career Communities

We are looking forward to meeting you and working with you!

 Daniel
