The start of the semester, and the rapid increase of incoming student package volume, has seen an unprecedented shift in later delivery times from all major carriers to IC Mail Service. This delay is having a cascade effect where our department will not be able to complete all DEPARTMENTAL deliveries of those packages the same day.

Therefore, our staff will first prioritize afternoon department deliveries as follows...

  1. Express (overnight) deliveries due that day
  2. Items marked as requiring refrigeration
  3. Other packages addressed to those same departments who have Express or refrigerated items will also receive the remainder of their packages, pending we have received them in time to include on our delivery run.
  • All other deliveries will be dependent on time available to complete before the end of the work day. Mail Services will, at its discretion, hold some deliveries in the Mail Center until the next day and will attempt to complete them during the morning delays we now have while waiting for carrier trucks to arrive. Our criteria for holding packages is entirely based on the circumstances we encounter each day.

We ask for your patience and understanding while we work to manage the impact that both high volume and late arrival has on our department's ability to serve the campus.

Departments are welcome to contact the Mail Center to inquire if a package is on hold, and to come pick it up if needed before our delivery the next day. Mail Service is not able to accommodate separate individual deliveries on demand.
