From Burning Man to Bayreuth Opera Festival, the lines have blurred between popular culture and The Cultured. This special topics course offered through Theatre Arts is an exploration of festival and venue management within a cultural context. Course topics include marketing and booking; operations, safety and sanitation; crowd, artist, and vendor management; staffing and sustainability. Through hands-on projects and student-led presentations, the course explores the evolution of festivals, their management, and future trends. The course is an excellent fit for students studying majors in media, arts, and entertainment. Pre-requisites waived for this special topics.
