Volunteer to help select IC’s first BOLD Scholar Program cohortContributed by Stephen Shoemaker on 09/07/17 Posted on behalf of Nancy Pringle, general counsel and senior vice president, Legal Affairs. Faculty and staff are needed to interview BOLD Scholar applicants. I am pleased to announce the nomination and application process to select Ithaca College’s first BOLD scholars has begun, and we’re looking for faculty and staff volunteers to help interview the applicants. This will be a wonderful opportunity to engage with the exceptional students who are applying to be BOLD scholars, and a wonderful opportunity for faculty and staff to work together in bringing forward our first cohort. If you do not have experience participating in such a process do not worry as there will be two individuals from the BOLD national office who will lead a training program for all evaluators on Thursday, September 21, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. The interviews of applicants will take place beginning on Friday, September 22, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Emerson Suites. A second round of interviews for those selected for finalist consideration will be held Saturday, September 23, from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. I do hope you will consider joining this very important, and what promises to be a very inspiring, weekend of engagement. If you are interested in volunteering, please email bold@ithaca.edu or call my office at 274-3836 by Tuesday, September 19. I am serving as the BOLD lead administrator. Who are BOLD scholars? They are junior women who are dynamic, authentic, courageous, and thoughtful student leaders. BOLD women want to have an effect on campus, in their communities, and in the world. Help us select Ithaca College’s first cohort of 10 junior women! The BOLD Women’s Leadership Network, created by President Collado in 2016, is an intergenerational initiative focused on cultivating courageous leadership among college women who possess the skills necessary to move discourse forward on some of the most challenging social issues on their campuses and in their communities. Ithaca College became the fifth member institution in the network in August. More information about IC’s BOLD program can be found at ithaca.edu/bold.
