Independent journalist Dave Zirin will give a public lecture, “The Politics of Sports and Sports Journalism,” on Thursday, October 12 at 7pm in Emerson Suites, Campus Center. An award-winning journalist who produces the weekly Edge of Sports podcast and column, Zirin is sports editor at The Nation.

Author of eight books, he wrote “Game Over: How Politics Has Turned the Sports World Upside Down,” which Christine Brennan of USA Today called “the perfect book for our time in sports.” He is the author of “A People’s History of Sports in the United States.” Zirin was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for co-authoring “The John Carlos Story: The Sports Moment that Changed the World.” Legendary New York Times columnist Robert Lipsyte called Zirin “the best sportswriter in the United States.”
