The Ithaca College Women in Computing club is proud to announce that its Vice President, Emily Hammel, has been chosen to receive a scholarship to the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference in Orlando, Florida this October.

Emily is a Junior Emerging Media major and is the fourth member of ICWC to be selected as a scholar through this program. The conference is the world's largest gathering of women in computing, with the top technology companies represented, including Facebook, Inc. which is sponsoring Emily's scholarship.

During the Spring of 2017, Emily worked along side Emerging Media senior Kaitlyn Balogh to create a casual virtual reality game to be used for physical therapy purposes for people who have suffered from concussions. The two had weekly meetings with Sharon Stansfield, head of the computer science department and advisor of ICWC and received continuous feedback from Laura Gras, an associate professor in the department of physical therapy.
