Hurricanes and refugees, Nazis and DACA’s end: what does morality demand of us today?Contributed by Dani Novak on 09/14/17 Every religious tradition offers guidance on morality, but it’s not always easy to apply it when moral choices conflict with our own well being. Given the state of the world and the issues we face today, this is a conversation we need to have together. Join us for that conversation as we kick off this year's Dinner Conversation Series on Oct. 3. The evening will feature a vegetarian potluck, some remarks by a local religious leader, and small group discussions on the moral imperative. Following the discussion, participants will decorate and write cards to Syrian victims of the civil war who are being treated at Ziv, an Israeli border hospital.
The event begins at 6:30 pm at the Just Be Cause Center, 1013 W State St, Ithaca. The event is free but donations for Ziv Hospital are encouraged.
Our Dinner Conversation Series continues on Nov. 7, with "Teaching Tolerance" and on Dec. 5, "Free Speech." Please mark your calendars.
We hope to see you on Tuesday, Oct. 3! |
