Carlos Figueroa, PhD, Assistant Professor, Politics Department, presented a paper titled "Black American political thinker-activist Bayard Rustin's tacit Quakerism and the 1960s Civil Rights Movement," at the Arts and Humanities conference in Florence, Italy (September 13-16, 2017).

The paper is part of his continuing work on Rustin's political thought. Dr. Figueroa also chaired a panel discussion on "History, Culture & Philosophical and Religious Studies." Both presentations were co-sponsored by the International Institute of Social and Economic Sciences, and the University of Economics, Prague.
