Associate Professor, Joshua Bonnetta, Screens Newest Film, El Mar La MarContributed by Karen Armstrong on 09/22/17 Associate Professor of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies Joshua Bonnetta’s newest film El Mar La Mar is receiving critical acclaim and screening in international venues. Made in collaboration with anthropologist/filmmaker J.P. Sniadecki from Northwestern University, this film was screened in August as part of the symposium "Welcome to the Anthropocene" in Antaliepte, Lithuania. During the symposium Bonnetta was part of a panel on Cinema After Nature and gave a lecture and workshop to Lithuanian filmmakers and students. The film was recently presented at the Harvard Film Archive and will premiere at the New York Film Festival's Spotlight on Documentary and the BFI London Film Festival in October with many more screenings slated for 2018. Since premiering at the Berlinale Film Festival in February the film has gone on to win six international awards and has been acquired for distribution by Cinema Guild. |
