The Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance presents Eve Megargel, author of "Learning to Kiss" on Thursday, October, 26 in Hill 104.  Refreshments and meet the author from 5:00-5:30PM, presentation and questions and answer, 5:30-7PM.  

Learning to Kiss is a startling, nuanced memoir that delves beyond the current news headlines to reveal what happens with autism and pain collide. It's an unflinching portrait of a nonverbal young man with autism named Billy who respond to his overwhelming litany of medical issues with courage, grit, and steely determination to communicate. Eve Megargel's raw and honest account of her son's physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions transports the reader into every moment of Billy's struggle to express his life in the midst of chronic pain. Now at 27, Billy is an independent communicator, artist and yogi.
