Mike Titlebaum’s musical composition "Short Set" for woodwind quintet is featured on a new CD recording and a tour of concerts by the group Ventus Machina.

The Canadian quintet commissioned the jazz-influenced piece in 2016 from Titlebaum, Associate Professor of Music Performance and Director of Jazz Studies in the School of Music, and they have been performing it regularly ever since. The group recorded the piece earlier this year, and used the name of the piece's final movement, “In the Weeds,” as the title for the CD. The disc was released on the label MSR Classics.

Ventus Machina celebrated the release of the CD on September 10th with a launch party performance in Moncton, New Brunswick, and are continuing with a performance tour of 6 cities in Ontario from September 28th through October 5th.
