Retirement Reception for Peter Kilcoyne, Manager Print Production OperationsContributed by Karen Serbonich on 10/12/17 The Department of General Services will be hosting a farewell reception for Peter Kilcoyne on his retirement from Ithaca College after 28 years of service. Please join us in wishing Peter well in his retirement at a reception on Thursday October 19th in the Taughannock Falls room from 3pm – 4:30pm. Peter began his career at Ithaca College in August of 1989 in the Office of Publications as the college’s print buyer. After a few months, Peter created a production workflow database using FileMaker Pro and had oversight on the scheduling of projects designed on and off campus. That system is the basis of what is being used today. Peter has been instrumental in sourcing the printing of multiple projects including IC View and Fuse. He chose to purchase the paper for both projects directly from the paper mill saving 12% to 15% of the paper cost of the magazine. Peter is instrumental in sourcing the yearly search mailings that have evolved from a single brochure/mailer, to multiple letters merged and personalized, that have mailed to hundreds of thousands of potential students. He is responsible for the approval process on the licensing and branding of Ithaca College merchandise. The print market is ever evolving in Central New York. Peter created and maintains excellent relationships with the various design and print vendors. The result is excellent work at the very best pricing for Ithaca College. After 26 years working in Creative Services, Peter was repositioned as the Manager of Print Production Operations for the Center of Print Production while maintaining the print purchasing responsibilities from his position in Marketing Communications. During his two years in this position, Peter was part of the team that upgraded the wide format equipment that now allows decal printing and cutting. He also helped to bring dye sublimation to the college allowing the Center for Print Production to produce the college’s nametags at a discount of more than 75% of the previous cost. If you would like to contribute to Peter’s retirement gift, and/or speak at Peter’s reception please contact Karen Serbonich 4-5701 or Julie Kingsley 4-3220 in General Services. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Karen Serbonich at kserbonich@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-5701.
