Kristen Pompey, a graduate student in the department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SLPA), presented her poster with Yvonne Rogalski (SLPA faculty) at the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions in San Antonio Texas. The title of the poster was "Confidence levels of future health professionals communicating with people with aphasia."

Pompey’s research indicates that speech-language pathology students have greater confidence communicating with people with aphasia (an acquired language disorder) than their peers in occupational therapy and physical therapy. Pompey concluded that students should have more opportunities to communicate with people with aphasia while they are in school, as preparation for their careers in the health professions.
