Internationally Renowned Pianist Performs at Ithaca CollegeContributed by Alexandria Kemp on 11/07/17 Concert: Thursday, November 9 at 8:15pm in Ford Hall Paul Lewis, piano, Presented by the Rachel S. Thaler Concert Pianist Series.
Paul Lewis is internationally regarded as one of the leading musicians of his generation. His cycles of core piano works by Beethoven and Schubert have received unanimous critical and public acclaim worldwide, and consolidated his reputation as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of the central European classical repertoire. Lewis has won numerous awards, including the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Instrumentalist of the Year, two Edison awards, and three Gramophone awards. He appears regularly as a soloist with top orchestras worldwide, including the London Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw, and the Chicago Symphony. A noted interpreter of Beethoven, this program will included Beethoven’s Six Bagatelles, Op. 126, as well as Haydn’s Piano Sonatas in C Major (Hob. XVI/50) and G Major (Hob. XVI/40), and Brahms 6 Klavierstücke, Op. 118.
