Physics Professor wins national Teaching and Learning Impact AwardContributed by Mark L. Fink on 10/26/17 Dr. Colleen Countryman, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics & Astronomy, was part of a team to be awarded the 2017 Campus Technology Impact Award for Teaching and Learning. Dr. Countryman and her colleagues created a free app that utilizes a student's smartphone as a lab instrument. As reported in Campus Technology news, the app not only saves resources in lab setup and maintenance, it also allows students to explore physics outside a traditional lab environment. When I met Dr. Countryman shortly after her arrival to IC this year, I was immediately impressed with her passion for teaching and learning innovation. Our conversation quickly turned to brainstorming ways in which we can advance teaching and learning with technology through app development. Congratulations, Dr. Countryman!
