Circle of Fifths: Words and Music in Celebration of the 125thContributed by Melissa Gattine on 11/02/17 Renowned writers will pair with Ithaca College students to present poetry, fiction, and music of celebration on Saturday, November 4, as part of “Circle of Fifths: Words and Music in Celebration of the 125th.” The event begins at 2:00 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. For some, celebration may be the joy of winning, for some it may be the gratitude of survival, and for some it may be the power of freedom. No matter the definition, the celebration will prove harmonious. This event will be moderated by A. Van Jordan, Poet; Robert Hayden Collegiate Professor, University of Michigan; Distinguished Visiting Professor, Ithaca College, and will feature the work of five writers: Julia Alvarez, Michael Collier, Mitchell S. Jackson, Akhil Sharma, and Crystal Williams. “Circle of Fifths: Words and Music in Celebration of the 125th” is offered as part of the celebration of the inauguration of Shirley M. Collado, the ninth president of Ithaca College. To RSVP for this event, please visit the Weekend on South Hill registration page. To request accommodations, please email IC125@ithaca.edu or call (866) 275-1125. The event will also be streamed at Ithaca.edu/125livestream. |
