The inauguration of Shirley M. Collado as Ithaca College’s ninth president will take place on Saturday, November 4, within the Weekend on South Hill, a celebration of the college’s 125th anniversary. 

 Be a part of our uplifting and joyful community-wide celebration marking the beginning of President Collado’s tenure. The event is scheduled from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in Glazer Arena in the Athletics and Events Center. Doors open at 9 a.m. Please come early and record a greeting for President Collado. 

Activities are planned throughout the weekend to honor the college’s deep roots as a place where theory, practice, and performance spark innovation and collaboration. Highlights will include:

An Academic Symposium
Friday, November 3, 1:00-5:15 p.m.
Glazer Arena, A&E Center
Discuss and explore the connections between theory, practice, and performance, hearing from innovators and thought leaders from around the country and within the Ithaca College community. IC125 Welcome Back Party

Commons, Downtown Ithaca
Head down to the Commons to welcome alumni, family, and friends back to Ithaca with art, activities, and local business specials.

Circle of Fifths: Words and Music in Celebration of the 125th
Saturday, November 4, 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Ford Hall, James J. Whalen Center for Music
Renowned writers will pair with Ithaca College students to present poetry, fiction, and music of celebration. This event will be moderated by A. Van Jordan, collegiate professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Michigan, and will feature the work of five writers: Julia Alvarez, Michael Collier, Mitchell S. Jackson, Akhil Sharma, and Crystal Williams.

IC125 Community Celebration
Saturday, November 4, 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Glazer Arena, A&E Center
Come and celebrate at the party of the century (and a quarter)! This event features presentations and acts from more than 200 faculty, students, staff, and local community members. Highlights include: the naming and tasting of a new Purity Ice Cream flavor in honor of the college; a special performance by alumna Q Smith ’00, who is currently starring in the Tony-nominated Broadway musical “Come From Away”; the unveiling of the Ithaca College Icons; and IC-themed hors d’oeuvres.

All of the above events are free and open to the public. If you plan to attend any of the Weekend on South Hill events, please RSVP on the registration page.
