The State Society on Aging (SSA) of New York 2017 Conference: The Many Worlds of Aging: Implications for Policy, Research, Education, and Practice took place on October 25-27 in Saratoga Springs. SSA is an interdisciplinary membership society that brings together individuals and groups from health, government, educational and community settings committed to improving the quality of life for older New Yorkers through education, research, service, and advocacy. Ithaca College Aging Studies Professor Mary Ann Erickson is the current President of SSA. The Ithaca College Gerontology Institute was represented by the following presenters: Martha Murphy (Aging Studies minor; OT major) - Music and Its Benefits for Older People (a presentation of work that originated in GERO 37000: Counseling the Older Adult) Bergman, E. J., & Ganzel, B. (2017, October). Understanding goals of care and implications for crafting messages about hospice and palliative care.
