This 3-credit course meets ONLINE from January 8-19, 2018 and is designed to develop a knowledge base about culturally and linguistically diverse students in K-12 schools in the United States. Students will examine major theories related to educating immigrant students and a culturally and linguistically diverse student population; critically analyze education policy and practice at the institutional level; analyze the sociopolitical context of teaching; and develop new ideas and lenses to view and resist oppression through advocacy, community engagement, and collaboration within the K-12 context. (3 credits)
