Parking Services is pleased to announce that decal parking permits will be issued as the primary permit option for Faculty and Staff for 2018. Decal parking permits are adhesive stickers that are affixed to the inside of the last window on the driver’s side.
Parking Services has frequently received complaints from employees who are issued tickets because they forget to display their hangtag parking permit. Although there is a liberal practice of automatically reducing four of these tickets per calendar year to warnings, many employees have requested that a switch be made to decal parking permits, similar to the ones used for students. The feedback has been that although there might be multiple vehicles in a household, people generally drive one specific vehicle to campus the vast majority of the time. Because of this feedback, the Parking Policy Advisory Committee deliberated the pros and cons of making this change and recommended piloting the move to decal parking permits for faculty and staff in 2018. Only one decal parking permit will be issued to each employee. Alternatively, a hangtag parking permit will be an option for those employees who indicate that they regularly switch vehicles. Permits can be ordered online using the following link: http://tinyurl.com/yd2c8yo3. If, for any reason, decal permit holders need to drive an alternative vehicle to campus, they can obtain a temporary parking permit for the day by going to either Parking Services during business hours or the Visitor Parking Lot Booth (M – F, 8AM – 3PM). If the 2018 pilot decal parking permits program is well received, Parking Services is considering transitioning to a two-year decal parking permit program beginning in January 2019. Sincerely,
