Earn ICC Diversity and Power and Justice T&P Credit in the Winter Term SOCI 20700 Race & Ethnicity in the U.S.Contributed by Belisa Gonzalez on 12/14/17 Earn ICC credit in this 10 day online Winter session (January 8-19) while learning how to discuss issues related to race and ethnicity.This 3 credit online course carries a Diversity designation and a Power and Justice Themes and Perspective designation. For Sociology majors and minors this course counts toward the Inequality area and for the Comparative and International area for all CSCRE minors (African Diaspora, Asian American Studies, Latino/a Studies and Native American/Indigenous studies). If you have ever wanted to engage in discussions of race and ethnicity, but did not know where to start, this is the class for you. Using films, readings and other online resources, students will discuss key concepts related to issues of race and ethnicity in the U.S.such as: race, ethnicity, assimilation, immigration, racism, prejudice, stratification, whiteness, model minority, etc. The course is designed to use historical events to shed light on contemporary issues.
