Ithaca College Theatre presents Tarell Alvin McCraney's In the Red and Brown Water Decmeber 7-10Contributed by Cynthia Stewart on 12/06/17 McCraney is best known as the playwright of In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue which became the award-winning motion picture, "Moonlight." One of the plays in McCraney's renowned trilogy, the Brother/Sister Plays, In the Red and Brown Water tells the story of Oya as she enters womanhood. When asked to participate on a college track team, Oya must decide whether to pursue her dreams or care for her ailing mother. McCraney uses stylized movement and language and the Yoruban iconography of West Africa to depict a female rite of passage.
