Procedures and schedules are in place for optical scanning of final exams during the week of December 18th-22nd. Due to the very close timing of the end of finals and the start of winter break, please be aware of these special procedures:

The DEADLINE to submit final exams for processing is 11:00 PM on Friday, December 22nd. Optical scanning can be dropped off at the Service Desk in Job Hall as follows.

Normal Business Hours:

  • Monday, 12/18 - Thursday, 12/21, 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Friday, 12/22, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

After Hours:

  • Friday, 12/22, 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM
  • To drop off exams after hours on Friday, the instructor MUST call 4-3278 to make arrangements with the scanning operator

Processing:

We will strive to maintain a 1 business day or less turnaround time during exam week, but it may be longer depending on the volume of exams received at any particular time.

All requested reports will be added to the instructor’s Sakai Drop Box (including report 101). If you have not used Optical Scanning services previously, you will be enrolled into your respective school’s Sakai worksite and a Drop Box will be created during the scanning process. Directions on how to retrieve your reports are sent via a Sakai message to the instructor’s Ithaca College email account.

  • All exams received by 11:00 PM on Friday, 12/22 will be available in the instructor’s Sakai Drop Box by 5:00 PM on Saturday, 12/23
  • Any problems with exam results MUST be reported no later than 11:00 AM on Sunday, 12/24 by calling 4-3278. Any necessary corrections will be processed by 3:00 PM that day.
  • No optical scanning services will be available between 3:00 PM on December 24th and 8:00 AM on January 2nd.
  • Course evaluations will be processed as time allows starting on Tuesday, January 2nd.

To minimize any potential problems with test processing, please ensure that:

  • All exam answers are marked with a number #2 pencil; markings made with ink pen cannot be read by the scanning machine
  • The bubble sheets are all the same color for any single exam
  • The bubble sheets are all "right side up"
  • Each answer sheet has the student's name written and bubbled

If you have questions about the optical scanning process, please visit our website or contact the Service Desk.
