The City of Ithaca has asked Ithaca College to remind students and other members of the IC community who plan to be out of town over the winter break and who normally park their cars on city streets to make off-street parking arrangements for their vehicles. The city’s odd/even parking regulations are subject to being suspended or activated at any time, based on weather conditions or the need to conduct other public works-related operations.

Vehicles that are parked on the wrong side of the street when the odd/even parking regulations are being enforced will be ticketed, and after 72 hours of not moving they may be towed at that the owner’s expense. In addition to towing fees, there is a $25 per day storage fee. Similarly, vehicles that remain unmoved in 24-hour parking zones will also be ticketed and subject to towing. Vehicles that don’t move obstruct snow removal efforts and make less parking available for residents, workers, and visitors.

More information about the city’s odd/even parking regulations and can be found here, while options for long-term off-street parking can be found here.

The City of Ithaca encourages everyone to subscribe to receive odd/even parking notifications and other types of important information through the Swift911 notification system. It only takes a few minutes to register, and it can save you from an expensive ticket! Go here for more information and to register to receive Swift911 alerts.
