Start your summer off living and learning in the world-renowned Findhorn Ecovillage in Scotland.

Join instructors, Kathryn Caldwell (Psychology, Ithaca College) and Ariane Burgess (Permaculture Expert, Findhorn) for a three-week immersive learning experience that explores how ecological systems function, how humans interact with and alter natural systems, and how we can design human ecological systems that mimic nature as architect. Through an eco-psychology lens, we look at the relationship between human beings and the rest of the natural world. Drawing on contemplative and reflective approaches, we consider our underlying worldviews and assumptions about the purpose of life, the rights, privileges and responsibilities of being human, and what constitutes a good life. We undertake this exploration while living in the Findhorn Eco-village, a world-renowned sustainable community that applies the concepts of systems thinking, permaculture design and ecopsychology in their ways of designing and living in community. Students will end the program with a vision for adopting sustainable living in their personal lives and for promoting sustainability in their communities when they return home.
