 Dr. Gage attended a week-long certificate course in Toronto, Canada at York University on Essentials for Ombuds in September 2017.  She successfully passed the exam and the course  and will receive her certificate by the end of December 2017.  

 An ombuds serves as a representative and people’s advocate. More specifically, an ombudsperson’s role is to advocate for the people and help support good administration that is open, accountable, fair, and continuously striving to improve for the people. An ombuds office can support this by providing an accessible, transparent, neutral, impartial, and confidential space that empowers the public to resolve their complaints and make recommendations for policies and practices. 

  Dr. Gage is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and affiliated faculty in the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity and Women's and Gender Studies. She also serves as a New York State volunteer mediator for the Conflict and Dispute Resolution Center since 2015.
