CNS Energy Audit Recommendations - Jan 19, 2018 at 10 AMContributed by Rebecca Evans on 01/16/18 Submitted on behalf of the Office of Energy Management & Sustainability The Office of Energy Management and Sustainability, in partnership with Environmental Health and Safety, want to share with our valued faculty, students, and staff the findings from the recently conducted CNS energy audit. Science and research facilities typically use significant amounts of energy due to the highly intensive and specialized research equipment combined with the high volume of fresh air required for lab safety and personnel comfort. Recent changes in ASHRAE standards and lab safety ventilation assessment protocols indicate the potential for improved energy usage in CNS using current best practices. CNS is 25 years old, and as such, its internal systems and equipment are quickly nearing the end of their useful life. Our hope is to utilize the results of this energy audit and subsequent upgrade projects to reset the building for the next 25 years. If you are interested in learning more details, please plan to join us on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10 am in CNS 117 / 118 / 119. Representatives from Greener U, Exposure Control Technologies, Inc., and Ithaca College will present an overview of the methodology along with the potential recommendations. We also want to hear your feedback and perspectives regarding these potential improvements. If you have any questions in advance of the presentation, please contact Greg Lischke (glischke@ithaca.edu). |
