 Health Literacy 101:  Focusing on Clear Health Communications

Join the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute for an evidenced-based training from the Minnesota Health Literacy Partnership.   This training is open to the community, as well as all students, faculty and staff.  According to the US Department of Education’s National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL)  in 2003 only 12% of adults are proficient in Health Literacy. (https://nces.ed.gov/NAAL/health.asp)

 What is health literacy? 

According to the National Institute on Health (NIH), it “Saves Lives. Saves Time. Saves Money.”

“The degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions.” (source: Healthy People 2010)
