Howard (MM in Composition) was selected as a 2018 Composition Fellow for the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center's Composition Program. Dallas J. Howard (MM in Composition) was selected as a 2018 Composition Fellow for the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center's Composition Program. Tanglewood Music Center was founded in 1940 by Serge Koussevitzky, the legendary music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (1924 - 1949) and it is one of most significant summer programs and academies worldwide. It is the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s summer home and the orchestra’s annual premiere academy for artists that have completed most of their formal studies. The fellows selected represent some of the world’s top talent. The inaugural composition class of 1940 includes Aaron Copland and Paul Hindemith as Faculty and Leonard Bernstein and Lukas Foss as students and has set a high-level precedent ever since. Some of twentieth century’s masterpieces were composed or premiered there including the opera Peter Grimes by Benjamin Britten. |
