The Sophomore SOAR Symposium is a new program, funded by the President’s Seed Grant Initiative, designed to connect sophomores to Support, Opportunities, Advice, and Resources from across campus in a fun, interactive, meaningful way. Attendees will enjoy an event that not only provides opportunities to enhance academic and professional success, but also encourages social interaction and community building. There will be hot food, table activities, raffles for some IC swag, a FREE GIFT for the first 100 students who sign in, and a grand prize (to be revealed next week)!!!!

Sophomores, join us on Wednesday, February 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. in Emerson Suites for the first ever Sophomore SOAR Symposium!

This free, conference-style event is scheduled as follows:

• 4:00-5:00:      IC Resources Fair [activities @ each table for a raffle ticket!]
• 5:00-5:15:      Welcome
• 5:15-5:40:      Opening General Session
• 5:45-6:15:      Breakout Sessions
• 6:20-6:50:      Breakout Sessions
• 6:50-7:00:      Closing Remarks + Prizes

Sessions will include information pertinent to your second year in college such as (subject to change):

• Sophomore Career Check-In
• Learning Resiliency in Your 2nd Year
• Coffee, Calls, and Connections: Networking Strategies That Work
• Goal Setting in Your Sophomore Year
• Long Term Planning Success:  How understanding and utilizing your student records can help you develop a long-term academic plan  

Register for this event in Handshake (use your Netpass user name and password to log in). Attire for this event is casual. Attending the entire event qualifies students toward 2 SLI credits in Leading Self. Students must be present to win raffle prizes.

The Center for Academic Advancement, Career Services, and OSEMA created this event for sophomores, funded by the President's Seed Grant Initiative. We are excited to be implementing programming to help sophomore students have a successful year and make the most out of their campus experience!
