Legal Studies program to move to School of Humanities & Sciences, effective Fall 2018Contributed by MaryAnn Taylor on 02/07/18 The following is contributed on behalf of Provost Petrosino: The legal studies major program will be moving from the School of Business to the School of Humanities & Sciences, effective with the fall 2018 semester. Current students will remain listed as students in the School of Business unless they elect to change their academic catalog year and move to the School of Humanities & Sciences. No degree or course requirements will change for students currently enrolled in the program. The Mock Trial and Pre-Law Society activities will also be moved to the School of Humanities & Sciences. The move was initiated based on planning conversations in both the School of Business and School of Humanities & Sciences. Because the legal studies major is an interdisciplinary program consisting of required coursework in legal studies, business, communication studies, philosophy, politics, and sociology, the program fits well with the mission of the School of Humanities & Sciences. The Department of Politics, with its longstanding tradition of engaging with issues of law, justice, and public policy, will be the new home of the legal studies program. Professor Tom Shevory will serve as the program coordinator for legal studies, beginning in Fall 2018, taking over from Professor Gwen Seaquist who has ably coordinated the program since 2004. Students seeking more information about the change can contact Assistant Dean Dawn Kline in the School of Business (dkline@ithaca.edu).
