This course is directed to students interested in biological anthropology, primatology, tropical ecology, conservation, animal behavior, and field biology. The goal of the field school is to provide a hands-on experiential learning opportunity, and is geared towards both junior/senior Anthropology majors as well as non-Anthropology majors. Emphasis will be given to one New World primate species inhabiting the field site in Costa Rica, mantled howler monkeys (Alouatta palliata). Students will receive intensive training in field techniques for primate behavioral ecology, plant identification and assessment, plant-animal interactions, and direct primate observation. Offered through Study Abroad.
