Library Staff present webinar on Library System MigrationContributed by Lisabeth Chabot on 03/05/18 Dan Taylor, Library Systems Specialist, and Terri Ann Coronel, Continuations and Invoicing Specialist, recently presented "Group Fun: Moving to Alma+Discovery in the Cohort Model" as a webinar for the South Central Regional Library Council. Ithaca College, along with 5 other institutions, went live with the Alma Unified Resource Management system in 2017. The cohort-model migration to Alma has its share of advantages and disadvantages. Dan and Terri Ann gave an overview of the plan Ithaca College used, what worked well, and could have have been better. They also discussed topics such as preparing to migrate, creating a holistic plan, streamlining project/time management, training library staff, managing expectations, and what they would have done differently in hindsight. Dan will also participate in panel presentation on the library's migration to Alma at the annual ELUNA (the international user community for Ex Libris customers in North America) conference in Spokane, WA in early May. |
