 Update on the search for Vice President and General Counsel

Since President Collado announced the members of the search committee for Vice President and General Counsel on February 8, the committee’s members have been laying critical groundwork to launch a successful search for the college’s next VP and General Counsel.

 The committee has met with members of Witt/Kieffer and with key stakeholders on campus to gather information which will help determine the qualities and characteristics necessary for competitive candidates for this important position. A leadership profile, a document that will clearly define the position and help potential candidates assess their interest, is nearing completion. It will be shared with the community on the Vice President and General Counsel search webpage once it is final.

 One change has been made to the makeup of the search committee: Gwen Seaquist has stepped down from her role as co-chair. Gwen made this decision based on an assessment of the depth and breadth of her many other campus responsibilities, which she felt did not permit her the time required to actively participate as co-chair of this search. The committee thanks Gwen for her ongoing dedication to Ithaca College.

 The committee is pleased to welcome Steven Mauk, professor in the School of Music, as the committee’s new co-chair. Steven joins Melissa Daly, chief of staff in the Office of the President, in leading the committee’s work.

 This search is progressing on schedule, and we are focused on our goal of making an offer well before the beginning of the next academic year.

 In the coming weeks, recruitment and broad outreach will begin. Members of our campus community are invited to nominate individuals you believe would be well suited for this important role.
