This year’s ITHACON drew over a thousand visitors to the Emerson Suites and Williams Hall this weekend. We were especially pleased to have over 250 children join us to read graphic novels, learn to draw comics, sculpt and craft, play quidditch, hunt zombies and become super heroes.
Thanks to the over a hundred IC student volunteers who ran registration, moderated panels, taught arts and crafts, offered themselves up as zombies, and helped to move thousands of pounds of vintage comic books. Special thanks go out to the students who acted as coordinating assistants for the event: Mina Hubert, Andy Yzuguirre, Noella Mpinga, Anna Kelly, Sallie Sims, Sofia DiGiandomenico, Kaitlyn Ng, and Renee Best. Thanks to the IC student clubs who helped make this a success, including the IC Quidditch Team, Humans vs. Zombies, Books Beyond Bars, and Random Acts of Kindness. Sallie Sims designed our beautiful volunteer shirts and Renee Best created our official poster. We would also like to thank Student Event Planner Rena Stoloff, Mark Warfle and the staff at the Campus Events Services; the IC Print Shop, especially Tonya Hulbert for her emergency graphic design work; Joan Marcus, Jaime Warburton, Matthew Radulski and Sloane Kazim for smart and sensitive panel moderation; Sean Reid in the Fitness Center for creative problem solving, Professor Scott Stoll for artistic excellence, and Cyndy Scheibe for her superior negotiating skills, and willingness to go above and beyond to make this event happen.
