David Barry (German Area Studies) presented “The Authoritarian Void in Kafka’s Das Schloss.” Maria DiFrancesco (Spanish, and NeMLA President) chaired several sessions and presented “Graduate School and Professional Development: What My Professors Forgot to Tell Me.” Marella Feltrin-Morris (Italian Studies) presented “Buttons, Briefs and Bridal Gowns: Paola Masino’s Wardrobe of Memories.” Rachel Paparone (French) presented “Et in A(r)cadia Ego: Space, Place, and Engaged Pastoral in Cajun Poetry.” NeMLA is the largest regional affiliate of the Modern Language Association (MLA), and it provides a forum for the dissemination of scholarship and the advancement of teaching in modern languages and literatures. Every year, the NeMLA Convention affords NeMLA’s principal opportunity to carry on a tradition of lively research and pedagogical exchange. This four-day long event showcases different areas of inquiry and includes regular panels, roundtables, seminars, interactive workshops, special events, caucus meetings, literary readings, film screenings, and guest speakers. https://www.buffalo.edu/nemla/about.html |
