Saviana Stanescu, Associate Professor of Playwriting, presents an excerpt from her play on a panel with Civic Ensemble at the Spring Writes Literary Festival, 5/6. This weekend Ithaca celebrates a new edition of the Spring Writes Literary Festival. Sunday, May 6, at 11 am, Associate Professor of Playwriting and Theatre Studies Saviana Stanescu will present excerpts from her new play, commissioned by Civic Ensemble - BEE TRAPPED INSIDE A WINDOW – as part of the panel, Writing the OTHER in Drama and Performance. Theatre Arts BFA student Lauren Rexach will be one of the actors reading excerpts from the play.
Schedule and Panel Information: 11:00am to 12:00pm @ Community School of Music and Arts, Lower Level Panel: Writing the OTHER in Drama and Performance A panel discussion will be interspersed with readings of excerpts from new plays by Saviana Stanescu and Emmy-winner Judy Tate, to be produced by Civic Ensemble in Ithaca for their summer season: Civic Acts: New Plays Toward The Beloved Community. Panelists include playwright Saviana Stanescu, Godfrey Simmons (artistic director of Civic Ensemble), and other Civic Ensemble artists and scholars.
