Christine Bataille, assistant professor of management, has been selected as the recipient of the 2018 Michael LaTour Memorial Award for Research Excellence.

The Michael LaTour Memorial Fund was established in memory of Professor Mike LaTour who passed away in November 2015. Mike was a professor of marketing at Ithaca College who was a dedicated researcher and prolific author specializing in consumer responses to promotional stimuli. The Fund provides a summer research award to a junior faculty member in the School of Business performing high-quality, impactful research that can be published in top-tier academic journals. After a blind review of excellent research proposals, the review committee selected the proposal from Professor Bataille for her project, “Men’s Identity Work and the Transition to Fatherhood.” The project seeks to compare first-time expectant fathers’ idealized visions of their roles as fathers, spouses/partners, and employees, and how their perspectives on managing these roles evolve over time.
