The musical Chicago opened at the Hangar Theatre on Friday, June 28.

The musical originally premiered on Broadway in 1975, with the book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The Broadway revival of 1996 holds the record as the longest-running musical revival and the longest-running American musical in Broadway history.

The Hangar Theatre production is directed by Michael Barakiva, with inspiration from vaudeville performance.

Walter Byongsok Chon, Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy and Theatre Studies in the Theatre Arts Department, served as production dramaturg, and IC students Jordan Sledd, Sandrinne Edstrom, and Bretana Turkon perform in the ensemble.

The production runs from June 28 to July 14.
