Adviser Needed for Volunteer Trip to Harrisburg during Fall Break!Contributed by Don Austin on 07/10/18 The Office of Student Engagement will be offering students a trip to work with the Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association (CATRA) during fall break, and we need an adviser for the trip! CATRA is an equestrian farm located in Pennsylvania’s capital area that offers residents from all generations, with all types of needs, the opportunity to receive therapeutic riding experiences in an atmosphere that is supportive, respectful, and healthy. IC will send a group of six students on this trip to engage in a variety of volunteer activities at CATRA, from assisting riders with therapeutic riding lessons to helping with day chores and tasks around the facility. As an Alternative Break adviser, you would assist with driving an IC vehicle, manage the group’s budget and travel itinerary, and serve as a resource for the group and the student leader. Advisers travel entirely free of cost and all arrangements are made through OSE. Furthermore, staff do NOT need to use paid time away in order to participate in the program. This is a great opportunity to travel and volunteer alongside students who are passionate about making a difference! For more information, please contact Don Austin, Assistant Director of Community Service, in OSE at austin@ithaca.edu and go HERE to learn more about CATRA. |
