Posted on behalf of Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life Rosanna Ferro and Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life Doc Richardson.

We would like to share some updates around previously announced changes within Student Affairs & Campus Life. As we begin a new academic year, please note that the former Office of Multicultural Affairs and Office of Programs & Outreach have been united to establish the Center for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Social Change (IDEAS).  The Center for IDEAS will focus on various aspects of inclusion, diversity, equity, and social change.  Dr. Sean Eversley Bradwell will serve as Director and RahK Lash, will serve as Associate Director.

Currently, a search for an Assistant Director is underway.  In addition, Luca Maurer former Program Director for LGBTQ Education, Outreach and Services has been promoted to Director of LGBTQ Education, Outreach and Services.  In this new full-time position, Luca will work in partnership with the Center for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Social Change (IDEAS) staff to enhance and develop new programming collaborations.

Presently, renovations are underway to re-design the former Multicultural Student Lounge and to create an office space for the new Center for IDEAS.  Both the Center for IDEAS and the IDEAS Student Lounge will be located on the 3rd floor of the Campus Center. The new student lounge will be located in the space where the Buttermilk Conference Room is currently located.

While the Buttermilk Falls Room will no longer be a space on campus that can be reserved, we are happy to report two changes on campus that will allow community members to find the meeting space they need. Garden 069, the small, glass-walled meeting room on the Garden Level of the Peggy Ryan Williams Center (PRW) has recently been added to 25Live as a space that can be reserved. Garden 069 can accommodate small meetings (similar in size to the Buttermilk Falls Room). The IC Square Meeting Room will soon be receiving new tables that can be configured to accommodate small meetings (also similar in size to those that were held in the Buttermilk Falls Room). The addition of these two rooms to 25Live will give the campus community more choices when it comes to smaller meetings on campus.

The renovation is expected to conclude before classes begin.  We are looking forward to welcoming this new unit and excited to see all of the great work they will be leading for our campus!
