A Doll’s House, Part 2 opens at the Hangar Theatre on 8/2, with IC Faculty.Contributed by Walter Chon on 08/01/18 Lucas Hnath’s A Doll’s House Part 2 (2016) is a sequel to Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House (1879). Ibsen’s innovation was in adopting the popular “well-made-play” form to critically examine and expose problems in the society such as the inequality between husband and wife. Ibsen’s play features the most famous door slam in the history of theatre, referred to as “the door slam heard around the world,” as Nora, once she realizes she had been mistreated, leaves her husband and children behind and goes out into the world. In the sequel, Lucas Hnath explores what happened to the characters after Nora left. The Hangar Theatre production features the following IC Faculty: - Susannah Berryman (Associate Professor, Theatre Arts): Performer (Anne Marie) - Greg Bostwick (Professor, Theatre Arts): Performer (Torvald) - Steve TenEyck (Professor, Theatre Arts): Lighting Design - Walter Byongsok Chon (Assistant Professor, Theatre Arts): Production Dramaturgy
The production runs from 8/2 to 8/11. For more information: https://hangartheatre.org/event/a-dolls-house-part-2/2018-08-02/ |
