Introducing Ex Libris Leganto Reading List/E-Reserves ToolContributed by Jenna Linskens on 08/14/18 The Ithaca College Library and Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) have partnered to implement Ex Libris Leganto, a new reading list/e-reserves tool that integrates with the Sakai learning environment. Faculty who currently use e-reserves are encouraged to use Leganto, as well as any faculty member who would like to utilize reading lists that give the instructor and student option to enhance teaching and learning. What is Leganto? Ex Libris Leganto is an online tool that enables the instructor to easily create, maintain, evaluate and share course resource lists. Why should I use Leganto?
How does it work? Using the online Leganto system, you can assemble materials of all types – physical books, online or digitized book chapters, scholarly articles, videos, newspaper articles, websites or any other type of material – to create a structured, comprehensive resource list. Share your list through your course site in Sakai for easy student access. How do I get started? View the Getting Started with Leganto artilce in the IT Service Portal. Follow the steps to adding the Leganto tool to your course site, searching and creating a collaborative list in Leganto and access analytics and reports. Join the Leganto User Group to see how other instructors are using Leganto, gain tips and tricks, and share your own ideas. For instructors who currently use e-reserves with Sakai, please refer to this Library Guide to assist with the transition to Leganto. What if I need help? Reach out to Bernard Hogben (bhogben@ithaca.edu) in the library or work with a Subject Librarian to begin creating your reading/e-reserves list. For technical difficulties, reach out to the TLT team and request help. |
