Thomas Garrison (Anthropology) awarded NSF and NEH grants

Thomas Garrison (Assistant Professor, Anthropology) was awarded both an NSF Archaeology Research Grant and an NEH Collaborative Research Grant (with Stephen Houston, Brown University).

The grants are given to conduct three years of field investigations at the Maya fortress of La Cuernavilla, Guatemala. The site was discovered as part of Garrison's large-scale lidar project in the Maya Lowlands that made headlines last winter (https://www.ithaca.edu/news/mapping-maya).
