Inclusive Faculty Search Chair Training: Several Dates AvailableContributed by Michelle Rios-Dominguez on 09/06/18 The Office of the Provost, the Center for Faculty Excellence, the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity and the Office of Human Resources invite you to participate in a half-day training session designed to serve as a road map in navigating the hiring process from the perspective of a search chair or member while incorporating best practices for inclusion. Added components include more in-depth look at the concept of “Inclusive Excellence”, understanding and mitigating unconscious bias, strategic or “opportunity” hiring and a focus on proactive measures to hire for retention. This interactive day will provide you with templates and tools that can help you explore your own lens but also begin to look at your current department processes from a critical eye. We will review policies and procedures that exist to ensure legal compliance and consistency. You will learn about available resources, strategies and best practices in to execute a successful and inclusive search.
