Cynthia Henderson (Theatre Arts) Delivered Keynote Address at Federal University of Pernambuco in BrazilContributed by Kelsey Dunne on 09/07/18 This summer, Associate Professor Cynthia Henderson (Theatre Arts) delivered the Keynote Address at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in Brazil to open the Inaugural Research Symposium exploring the work of Gilberto Freyre, a renowned sociologist. Her speech highlighted the intersection of the disciplines of actor training and Theatre of the Oppressed, and has gone on to be used in a number of classes at UFPE. Additionally, Henderson served as a panelist on "Exploring Your Institutional Fit," featuring faculty and academic leaders from Cornell and other liberal arts colleges. Panelists shared insights from their respective experiences, to help Cornell graduate students and postdocs who are considering faculty career pathways. Later in the summer, Professor Henderson was an auditor at the Black Arts Intensive in New York City, which was a collaboration between Stella Adler Studios and the Billie Holiday Theatre, and was elected as a board member of the NYS Fulbright Alumni Association.
