Ithaca College Ranked in Top 30 for LGBTQ InclusivenessContributed by Brittany McCown on 09/13/18 A national organization that works to create a safer environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning students has ranked Ithaca College among the top 30 colleges and universities in the nation for being LGBTQ inclusive. The Top 30 listing is based on the Campus Pride Index, a national benchmarking tool that assesses LGBTQ-friendly policies, programs and practices, and is based on research-driven and best practices regarding LGBTQ campus climate and overseen by a national team of academic researchers and practitioners. This designation reflects the dedicated, sustained, and innovative efforts of members of our campus community who work in partnership with the LGBT Center not only to maintain Ithaca College's services, programs, and policies, but also to continually evaluate, expand and improve them to best meet the existing and emerging needs of LGBTQ students, employees, and their families. Other institutions in the ranking include Rutgers, Princeton, Penn State, Ohio State, Indiana University Bloomington, Elon, Macalester, and Augsburg. This marks the ninth consecutive year that IC has achieved the highest five-star rating on the Campus Pride Index. For more information on Campus Pride, visit campuspride.org.
