Notice of Availability

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act [20 USC 1092(f)], otherwise known as the “Clery Act”, the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is responsible for preparing, publishing and distributing an annual report by October 1 of each year for the purpose of disclosing and disseminating certain information as outlined below.  This information is made public by way of the college’s 2018 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

Recent and continued amendments to this federal law add provisions dealing with specific content found in the publication, including but not limited to the following information which you have a right to know: 

  • emergency communications (notification systems and policies)
  • emergency preparedness and response  
  • fire safety policies and fire statistics
  • crime reporting and disclosure
  • campus safety and security policies and crime statistics
  • crime prevention education and programming
  • sexual violence in its many forms (including definitions, interventions, options, resources, crime reporting and disclosure, and more)
  • alcohol and substance abuse information and resources
  • federal, state and local alcohol and drug laws
  • sexual harassment and sexual assault response and education (including domestic violence, dating violence and stalking; options, interventions and (on and off campus) resources; confidentiality and privacy; victim’s rights; victim advocacy; policy and procedures for reporting sexual harassment and sexual assault; procedures for handling reports of sexual harassment and sexual assault, and more)

Additionally, all current students and employees will receive a direct mailing of this publication through e-mail on or before October 1.  Paper copies of the publication are also available upon request.  Please direct your requests to the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management located in the Center for Public Safety and General Services Building or call (607) 274-3353 to request a paper copy.     

The crime and fire statistics for Ithaca College are submitted to the U.S. Department of Education through a web-based data collection system and can be viewed at the following web address:  https://ope.ed.gov/campussafety/.  Please note that the statistics for 2017 are published by the U.S. Department of Education later in the fall semester.
